Here are a list of things that were included in the bill that were added to attempt to get some Republican support:

  • Prohibition on the use of funds for the transfer or release of individuals detained at United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
  • Prohibition on the use of funds to modify or construct facilities in the United States to house detainees transferred from United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
  • Prohibition on use of funds to give Miranda warnings to Al Qaeda terrorists.
  • Sense of Congress regarding recreational hunting and fishing on military installations.
  • Sense of Congress encouraging the President to order the United States flag to be flown over United States military and civilian outposts in Haiti during earthquake relief efforts.

The GOP is throwing a fit and the American people are the worse because of it.  I really hope this catches up with them in November, but I doubt it will.

i’ve heard a lot of people complaining about ‘those sneaky dems’ trying to put terrible things that will end america into this bill. i know what it is. it’s the dog thing, isn’t it? we don’t want wounded soldiers to have a dog? what would you prefer, republicans?

also, i heard evilteabagger talking about abortions for female soldiers, but i have yet to actually see this in any of the reports about this bill, only on conspiracy theory right wing blogs. interesting.
